Braces are commonly associated with achieving a flawless smile, but their benefits go well beyond mere aesthetics. If you’re contemplating braces in Sacramento, it's crucial to recognize how they can greatly enhance your overall oral health.
In a previous blog post, we explored whether teeth whitening is considered a cosmetic dental treatment. In this blog, we will delve into the various ways braces can contribute to improved long-term health and well-being.
Beyond just straightening your teeth and improving your oral health, braces can also give a significant boost to your self-confidence. Let’s take a closer look at why braces can enhance your confidence and share tips on how to make the most of your braces experience.
One of the primary functions of braces is to correct misalignment issues. Crooked or crowded teeth can make it challenging to maintain proper oral hygiene. Braces work to straighten your teeth, making it easier to brush and floss effectively. By aligning your teeth, you reduce the risk of developing cavities and gum disease, as food particles and plaque are less likely to accumulate in hard-to-reach areas.
A misaligned bite, or malocclusion, can lead to various issues such as jaw pain, difficulty chewing, and even speech problems. Braces, often provided by a cosmetic dentist in Sacramento, help correct bite issues by gradually shifting your teeth into their proper positions. This not only improves your ability to chew properly but also reduces strain on your jaw joints, resulting in fewer headaches and less discomfort.
When your teeth are misaligned, certain teeth may bear more pressure than others, leading to uneven wear. Over time, this can cause tooth damage, including chipping or cracking. Braces distribute the forces of chewing more evenly across your teeth, reducing the risk of damage and prolonging the lifespan of your dental work.
Straighter teeth contribute to better oral health in multiple ways. For instance, it is easier to maintain clean teeth and gums when your teeth are properly aligned. This helps prevent gum disease and reduces the likelihood of tooth decay. Additionally, correctly aligned teeth are less prone to developing issues such as abnormal wear patterns and bite-related problems.
While not directly related to oral health, the psychological benefits of having straight teeth should not be overlooked. Braces in Sacramento can significantly improve self-esteem and confidence, encouraging better oral hygiene habits. When you feel good about your smile, you're more likely to take the necessary steps to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Had a great visit today and got to know the people that work there. They made me feel comfortable as the change of ownership is taking place.

I am so impressed with the entire experience. From the friendly reminders, to entering the office, and especially the dentist! My previous dentist Stephen C Ott, DDS, was incredible. I had the benefits of his gift since 1971. I was worried about finding a new dentist. However, I was blessed to have Dr. Ott recommend his dentist: Dr. Lillian Stojic. I recommend her to all!!!

I just had a visit to Dr. Stojic's office. My ten year old daughter had an infected tooth that had to be extracted. She was so nervous and scared at the possibility of an extraction. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by her office manager and then by her equally kind assistant who brought us back to her room...

Dr. Lilliana and her staff are not only effective and efficient, but they also remove my anxiety. When I had to have a root canal, I was nervous about the pain. I was given the choice of Nitrous oxide gas and that calmed me.

Dr. Stojic saw two of my children. The youngest was so comforted by her easygoing and confident demeanor that he was the quietest and most still 4 year old I've seen in a dentist chair! Our older son was very afraid of the dentist and has been to a couple other dentists who were unable to treat him because of his scared behavior. Dr. Stojic was very patient and helped him understand what she was doing at every step, which calmed him down so she was able to fill his cavities and even extract a tooth. We were thoroughly impressed with Dr. Stojic and her office and staff.
